A Rehearsal for Psycho

In a simulated bathroom, the video installation reimagines the classic shower scene from Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960). Here, the protagonist becomes a woman deeply rehearsing her encounter with imminent death. She trains each movement meticulously, striving for perfection, her body tense and vigilant, sensing the killer lurking just beyond the door. She gazes at the dark crack, that shadowed threshold, a space brimming with both dread and desire—energy builds but is bound, an eruption perpetually withheld. Shot in first person, this work launches a clash of gazes, exploring how women choose to present and appreciate their own bodies on screen, and how these choices are shaped by external perceptions of femininity.

The installation invites viewers to peel back the shower curtain, to spy on the scene within, or to peer from above. It blends the scents of the bathroom, along with traces of handmade and handwritten elements, evoking an intimate, sensory experience that immerses the viewer in a visceral act of observation.
